Flying Solo with Baby

A 13 hour flight alone with a baby went surprisingly smoother than I had expected… I did all of the things that people suggested like:

-I got a GOOD baby carrier where Lucy felt cozy and secure.
I love my Solly Wrap because I don’t have to support her head while she’s sleepin’.
-I used the handicap stall with pride.
I wheeled that stroller on in there!
-I asked the desk at the gate for a bulkhead seat with a bassinet.
IT CHANGED MY LIFE! My arms got a break, and Lucy was able to SLEEP.
-I made sure she was sucking a binky or nursing during take off & landing.
It helped her ears balance the altitude.
-I packed snacks for myself.
Just incase I was too occupied to eat the meals on board.
-I brought plenty of clothes for ME and baby.
Messes include Mommies sometimes too.

It was just the end bit that was a little traumatizing, ha! Lucy had a massive blow out (on me) right when the pilot put on the seat belt sign for landing. So I waited the 30 minutes to land… And waited for everyone to get off of the airplane… I then told the stewardess I was going in the bathroom to clean up and I did my business. I came out and it was like the twilight zone! NO ONE was on the plane — including the pilots. Luckily the jetway was still attached so I walked up and the doors at the top were locked shut! I started to have a panic attack inside, especially because I had a baby strapped to me and it was so hot and muggy — I was so ready to be done! I really was so close to sitting down and crying on the floor. I pounded on the door and it was so thick that it did not make a sound, and there was no one in sight on the other side! At that moment Lucy spit up all down the front of my shirt. In my bra and everything hahaha the situation was awful. I walked back down to the plane and luckily a man working down at the baggage saw me and got someone to help me! Then I sat at the baggage claim for three hours waiting for my stroller that never came hahaha. So at the end of the day, the flight was fantastic, just the end bit was a little sketchy haha! I’m all about ending things with a bang… 😉

I definitely had some angels with me, I will never forget the cute old Italian couple who helped me along the way…
