This jacket is priceless to me because of the sentimental value that it holds. I embrace the faded stains and the torn fabric because it tells a story: It belonged to my Grandpa Stanley. He was the funniest, cutest little grandpa around. He always made me laugh, and never once forgot to call and sing to me on my birthday. Some of my fondest childhood memories happened at my grandparents house… Playing with the box of antique toys, eating salted peanuts, and watching my grandparents play music and sing together… Although us kids didn’t always behave ourselves, like the time we climbed the apricot tree and chucked the pits at the neighbors windows, or the time we stuck our frozen burnt ice cream cones to the back of aunt Carla’s bumper… I knew that they always loved us. A memory I will never forget is how my grandpa would always walk us out to our car, and stand at the foot of the driveway to wave goodbye. As I wear his jacket today I am reminded of these memories. The way he went through what seemed like a million coke cans in one week, and how he always smelled like fresh onions from his garden. He would eat them like an apple, you know! He was so loving and old fashioned, he raised us all to kiss him on the lips when we would greet him – I think it shocked Brad the first time he saw it, haha! I miss you, Grandpa!
Your grandpa sounds awesome! Of all the cool things to have to remember him by, I think a Members Only jacket is one of the coolest!

I got my grandpa's Members only jacket when he passed as well. It's in a closet. I feel like it still smells like him. I love it.
Isn't it such an incredibly comforting KNOWLEDGE to have that we will see our loved ones again?
My grandma (we called her Tutu) passed away when I was young but I still have very fond and strong memories of her. When she passed away I asked for her stamp collection. At the time it was something pretty to look at but as I've gotten older, those stamps have become so much more.

I love this post!!!! I miss grandpa Stanley so much too. I share a lot of similar memories of him! And I was definitely appalled the first time I saw my mom kiss him on the lips and he came up and did the same to me haha 🙂 fun to reminisce!

what greater feeling is there than the one that you will see your family again. my grandpa passed when i was really young, but i have felt his spirit many times in my life, especially now as i prepare to serve a mission. so glad that the gospel brings added information and light into our lives and so glad you shared this post. and holy crap, THAT VIDEO! cutest thing of my life.
We have the same grandpa! We kiss our grandpa (bumpa) on the lips as well. He is 93 now but just like your grandpa super independent and drives himself everywhere. He is a Diet Coke man though and says that "water is for baptizing, diet coke is for drinking". Thank you for sharing!
My grandma had cancer before she passed away so I inherited three of her gorgeous bureaus and every time I wear them I think of her too and can't wait for the day I can see her again!! I actually only wear two of them bc one smells so strongly of her and I don't want the smell to fade!! I loved your video of your grandpa and it's so wonderful that you'll always have that to look back on:)

I, too, wear my grandpa's (well, great-grandpa's) jacket. It's his WWII pilot jacket. In fact, I wore it in my very first blog post. So special to have the knowledge that we will live with them again & priceless items to remember them and keep them close by. <3

grandpas and grandmas (and old people!) are seriously the best. I LOVE MINE so much. most are still alive… grandma fly is seriously the funniest lady on the planet.

This video is so great! I love all this. The best things I have from my grandparents are things I actually USE!! Like his wallet, her camera. But to have them on video is something I would give anything for.
