Enjoy the Adventure

A PHOTO I SNAPPED IN JAPAN LAST SEPTEMBER

A little peek into my life as an event videographer:
Brad and I were just looking over our 2013 calendar today, when I realized we will be traveling to ten (possibly eleven) different countries between the two of us this year! Although it is going to be a challenge being apart for weeks at a time, I am really excited to travel to majority of these countries together. In the past I’ve traveled alone and I won’t lie, I’ve felt a little vulnerable at times (Finding my way around Tokyo by myself, yikes!) So I could not be more thankful that Brad is accompanying me more this year. My job consists of a lot of jet lag, hotel rooms, and really hard work. At each event I film I always have the same thought run through my head,”This is so hard, I’m never doing this again.” Because the video of the event is shown right after the last speaker (who has to be included) at the event. That gives you only about 4 minutes render/export time! A little nerve racking if you could imagine. Staring at the little percentage bar on the computer screen, with co-workers surrounding you, praying that the last speaker doesn’t end early! I’m usually shaking by that point, haha! But at the end of the day it is so rewarding seeing your work displayed in front of hundreds of people, applauding. I know it may sound cheesy, but even though I know more than half of the people don’t know who I am, I take those applauds and cheers to heart. I secretly battle holding back my tears at every event – haha! But really, I can’t help but reflect on how blessed I am. The places I’ve seen, the cultures I’ve experienced, and the people that I’ve met… make it all worth while.
So hears to another hard working, adventurous year!
I’m ready for ya, 2013.

YOU GUYS ARE SO BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can only hope to travel to that many countries in a lifetime, let alone a year. You're doing what you're good at, and what you love…with the one you love. Yes, a little separation will be necessary, but my oh my do the positives outweigh the negative.

I am genuinely excited and happy for you. <3

So glad Brad gets to come with you more this year! I don't know how you two do it! You're amazing. And I feel ya sometimes, with crazy brides or weird weddings I have to photograph, I want to quit and never do a wedding again. You are a trooper, and I can't imagine working as much as you do! Such a rockstar!
