MY NORWEGIAN SUMMER: 2011

My cousin from Norway, Lisa, came to visit for half of the summer, and then I went and spent the other half in Norway with her. It was a lot of time spent together — and surprisingly, we never got sick of each other! Or at least I hope she didn’t get sick of me… ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was so cool for me to visit Norway because I had only been there once when I was five years old. We started our trip in Trondheim, where Lisa lives. We had such bad jetlag, so we dared each other to jump into the river (Maybe it’s a fjord… I’m not sure), and it was absolutely FREEZING! Hahaha! It woke me up for sure! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We hung out with Lisa’s boyfriend Rune, and some of her friends. I loved being surrounded by everyone’s cute Norwegian accents! It reminds me of my grandparents. ๐Ÿ™‚ I felt like I was in a movie, as we ate strawberries on the rooftop, and I couldn’t understand a word anyone was saying. It was seriously so awesome. We then made our way to Bergen, and it was even more beautiful than I remembered! My Mormor (grandma) is from Bergen, so it holds a special place in my heart. We laughed so hard that Lisa kept getting treated like an American there! Its probably because she had a camera around her neck, and her English is so freaking awesome. After Bergen, we took a ferry down to Sandnes/Stavanger and we hiked to the Pulpit Rock! It was AMAZING!! Looking back, I think I was a little too fearless sitting on the edge like that… After Stavanger, we drove clear down to Risor! Risor was seriously BREATH TAKING! We were welcomed by the whole family standing up on their cabin deck, standing with their wine glasses. It was so classic. Lisa’s Dad, Frode, made the most delicious mutton and my Uncle Gunnar stood up and gave a toast to “our visitor” (me)! I’m wishing so badly that I had filmed that, because he recently passed away. It’s a memory I will never forget though. It was so cool to get to know all of my Norwegian family a little better — We all played cards and laughed a lot. ๐Ÿ™‚ We then ended our trip in Oslo, and we were supposed to stay at Lisa’s friend’s flat, but we couldn’t find the key she put out for us! So we ended up sleeping in the car in a random parking lot. We laughed so hard because in the summer in Norway, the sun never really goes down… So it was extra hard to fall asleep! We were so greasy the next day, we felt like we had been camping! Ha! We got a hostile for our last night (thank heavens) and spent our last day visiting the Folkemuseum. Needless to say, it was a summer to never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ™‚
